Mind your code, boys 'n girls

New client, beautiful site, SEO strategies neatly in place... yet nada on the search engines. Definitely a head scratcher - until I used Google's handy little 'cached' feature. Turns out, I left out a teensy weensy itty bitty piece of javascript code in the header of the document - and Google never looked any further. Ouch! Didn't even see the page title...

 

 

Yahoo! did. Unfortunately, traffic from Yahoo! doesn't amount to very much. And, of course, MSN is trailing behind, hasn't even visited the site yet, as far as I can see. Of course, once discovered, I amended the offending piece of code - but the bot hasn't been back yet. It's been over 2 weeks :(

 

The moral of the story is... be VERY mindful of your code. Even though things may look perfect in a browser, going over the code one more time is definitely worth while.
